Are trees really that important?

Planting new forests help fight climate change, effects of air pollution and taking steps to safeguard our planet’s species.

We lose about 46-58 thousand square miles of forest each year. If the current rate of deforestation continues, it is believed that in less that 100 years, we will have lost all our rainforests.

Here are some other facts of why trees are AWESOME, besides of giving us the air we breathe:

  • Trees improve water quality by slowing and filtering rain water.

  • Trees clean the air. They absorb carbon dioxide (CO2), removing and storing the carbon while releasing the oxygen back into the air. One tree can absorb as much carbon in a year as a car produces while driving 26,000 miles.

  • Trees help with soil erosion.

  • Trees have a social impact to it in terms of employment and life (1.6 billion people on this planet are somehow connected to forests for their livelihood).

  • Trees are home to 80% of the world’s biodiversity (on land).
